From Conference to Connection: Weaving a World of Sisterhood and Sustainable Networking.

Traveling for work? Yes, please! But for me, it's never just about the work. It's about the connections forged, the sisterhoods ignited, and the vibrant tapestry of global community woven through genuine networking. This isn't your average "collect business cards" approach; this is about building relationships that last, fueled by authenticity and mutual respect.

Two years ago in 2023, marked my first time in Dubai. I went to Mindvalley's first ever event here. This trip,. I'd been living in the Middle East for two years prior, attending wellness events in Egypt, but I craved something more. The enthusiasm was there, but the experience felt… lacking. As someone who'd spent years immersed in California's New Age scene, I yearned for a more sophisticated, international perspective. Dubai, a melting pot of global glamour, seemed like the perfect place to find it.

So, I booked the conference with the explicit intention of networking & meeting 'my people' in this region. Day one arrived, and… crickets. Not a single connection. Not one person who sparked my interest. Discouraged, I almost gave up. But as I headed for the exit, two striking individuals caught my eye. They exuded a unique energy and style – not just physically attractive, but radiating a powerful presence. I knew I had to connect.

"HIIIIIII, I love your look! How's it going?" I approached them with genuine enthusiasm.

"We like your look too," they responded. "It's giving high priestess."

Turns out these to magnetic individuals were really interesting people; Shaft Udin a tantra and intimacy coach and Rosa Aygun the founder of Wellness app Anqa.

This chance encounter transformed my entire experience. It wasn't about exchanging business cards and moving on; it was about a genuine connection, a spark of recognition. I could have been handing out cards or getting folks to scan my QR code info but that just feels so lame for me. I want vibe out and see if we have something to co-create, not just peddle my services. And it reminded me of a fundamental truth: my "success" – as an artist, studio owner, and experience facilitator – has never stemmed solely from talent or beauty. It's been built on the foundation of strong networks, deep connections, and authentic friendships.

Now 2 years later im back in Dubai as part of a special private event with Rosa. We had a very sacred women's circle praying for love compassion and peace for the collective under the celestial power of the planetary alingment. One thing i have felt the calling for recently is to reignight my connection with my global sisterhood.

The Power of Sisterhood and Sustainable Networking – and Finding Your Tribe

This experience crystallized what I've learned over the years about building a thriving network:

  • Authenticity is Key: People can sense when you're being disingenuous. Approach networking with genuine curiosity and a desire to connect on a human level.

  • Energy Attracts Energy: My initial disappointment on day one shifted dramatically when I encountered those two individuals. Their vibrant energy drew me in, and that mutual attraction created the space for a meaningful connection.

  • Clear Communication is Crucial: This is the bedrock of any strong relationship, professional or personal. I've learned the importance of honesty and transparency. In Egypt, the common phrase "inshallah" (God willing) can sometimes be used to avoid direct answers. I avoid this. I prefer to be upfront about what I can and cannot do. This builds trust and avoids misunderstandings.

  • Sisterhood is the Secret Weapon: Connecting with women who share your values and aspirations can be incredibly empowering. These relationships offer support, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. They are the foundation of a truly sustainable network.

  • Networking for Longevity: This isn’t about quick wins or transactional exchanges. It’s about cultivating long-term relationships built on mutual respect, shared values, and consistent communication.

  • Find Your Niche(s): The beauty of connection lies in its diversity. My own experiences have shown me the incredible value of finding my place within various communities, some seemingly worlds apart. From the gritty energy of motorcycle shops and tattoo conventions to the raw power of touring Europe with a metal band, the serenity of the yoga community, the expressive freedom of the dance community, and the introspective depth of transcendental groups – each has offered unique perspectives and valuable connections. Don't limit yourself to one type of community; explore different niches and embrace the richness they bring to your network.

From Dubai to Beyond: Cultivating Your Own Network

So, how can you apply these principles to your own life?

  • Seek out communities that resonate with you: Whether it's online groups, industry events, or local meetups, find spaces where you can connect with like-minded individuals.

  • Be present and engaged: When you're networking, put away your phone and focus on the conversation. Listen actively and ask thoughtful questions.

  • Follow up: After making a connection, send a personalized message expressing your appreciation for the conversation and suggesting ways to stay in touch.

  • Nurture your relationships: Stay in touch with your network regularly, even if you don't have a specific agenda. Share valuable resources, offer support, and celebrate each other's successes.

My journey is a testament to the power of connection. It's about more than just traveling for work; it's about building a global community based on sisterhood, authenticity, and sustainable networking. It's about creating a world where we rise together.
